I'm glad to take a seat on a board or advisory board where digital strategy, technology choices or IT governance are on the agenda. Drawing on twenty years of experience as a CIO, I bring a practical, critical perspective — not from theory, but from what I've seen actually work (and fail) myself.
As a CEO or member of the executive team, sometimes what you need isn't someone to take over, but someone to think things through with you: a sounding board to stress-test a digital strategy, prioritise IT investments, or simply talk through a difficult question with someone who knows the field. I take on that role gladly, on a temporary, tailored basis.
Choosing the right IT partner or software package often shapes how an organisation works for years to come. I help companies make that choice thoroughly and independently: from sharpening the actual need, through evaluating candidates, to a well-founded recommendation — without any commercial ties to a particular vendor.
I'm also glad to serve as a jury member for recruitment firms hiring senior IT profiles for their clients — my own CIO experience helps quickly spot who can really make a difference.
Higher education is close to my heart too. With three children who are studying, or have studied, at university, I've seen up close how important it is for students to connect academic theory with what actually happens in practice. I'm glad to take on that bridging role — as a guest speaker or jury member.
